Clubs & Maces For Legs?

When thinking about club and mace training the average Joe quickly mentions shoulders and grip but that’s as far as they get.
Most people never associate clubs with legs due to their ‘lighter weight’. They never consider how to make the weight feel heavier by adjusting their stance, or placing the weight at a more awkward position.

Take the front swing, the most basic of staple kettlebell exercises and use a club to fo them. The front swing done with a club is a harder movement to execute than with a kettlebell - the kettlebell has a suitcase handle while the club’s handle is straight and pulls through the grip rather than into the grip, so be resdy for that. Also, the way the club mass is distributed, a club weighing about half what the kb weighs but is twice as challenging in an athletic sense.

Extended Arm Squats with 30lbs at full lock out will challenge even Usain Bolt’s quads. Split Leg Squats, Lunges, Cossack Squats, Bulgarian Split Squats, or Launches with the mace (the best in my opinion) Clubs work for leg day. Use them.
